Crossroads

There comes a point in a person’s life when he or she is faced with several choices, but he or she can only choose one. And it is sometimes difficult to know whether or not you are making the right choice when there are conflicting issues in your mind, and there isn’t perfect peace.

Today, I make a decision on which company to work for. I had to go through questions like “Would I rather do something I enjoy versus something I’m not confident doing?”, “Am I prepared to take on more responsibilities?”, “Are my skills and training fit for the type of work I will be doing?” And all I can do is hope that the Lord will give me perfect peace with my final decision. I pray that He will nudge me in the right direction.

When everything doesn’t appear to make any sense, when we seem to be in a “weak” position, that is the time that God can demonstrate His strength and carry us through. His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Everything’s Gonna Be Alright

Do you remember Bob Marley’s song, “No Woman, No Cry”? Well, there’s a part in that song where Mr. Marley repeats the phrase “Everything’s gonna be alright”. And that was the sermon when I attended vesper service yesterday. For those who believe and follow the Lord Jesus Christ, everything will eventually turn out ok.

The pastor points out three reasons why. These are three certainties for Christians in a world that is filled with uncertainty. The first is that we have eternal life in Christ. The second is the assurance that our Heavenly Father hears our prayers (the answer to it can be a yes, no, or wait, but the Lord knows what is good for us, and gives us what is best for us).  And the third is that we have the victory in Christ. We already know the final outcome of this spiritual war.

The pastor reminded the congregation that we could either spend our days on this earth worrying or we could spend it enjoying the life that God has given us. Sometimes, rejection and problems make us lose our focus and forget these simple truths that serve as encouragement in our daily battles. We must be reminded in order to live the successful Christian life.

If you want to know more about Christ and want to live a changed life, seek Him. Read the Bible, and ask Him to reveal Himself to you. Only Jesus can allow you to live a life filled with peace and hope.

Modern Day Geppetto

Are you familiar with the story of Pinocchio? If you are, then you might want to read about David Hanson, today’s version of Geppetto, Pinocchio’s “father”.

I wonder if I’ll ever see the day when robots become household companions like Data in Star Trek TNG, or Andrew in Bicentennial Man. But with passionate inventors and artists like Mr. Hanson, that day may be fast approaching.

A.R.K.

(Spoiler alert, if you haven’t watched Evans Almighty, …. watch it first)

Today, I was able to watch the movie Evans Almighty, the sequel to Bruce Almighty, and I actually enjoyed the film. It gives viewers a satirical view of what might have happened during Noah’s day. It shows the kind of ridicule that he and his family might have undergone during their time, although on a much lighter note.

I’m a Morgan Freeman fan, from his role in Shawshank Redemption, to being U.S. President in Deep Impact, and his recurring role as G, he always gives an amazing performance.

But what I loved most about the movie was how they came up with an acronym for ARK which was “a simple Act of Random Kindness at a time”. This was G’s response on Evan’s question of “how to change the world”.

Estrada found Guilty

I went out today to pay the water bill and as I was commuting towards the payment center, I saw a huge roadblock ahead. I then realized that today was the day the Philippine Supreme Court was to give its verdict on the Estrada plunder case. Former President Joseph Ejercito Estrada was found guilty and sentenced to 40 years imprisonment.

Is this a victory for the justice system in the Philippines, or does it encourage government officials to continue corruption since the worst penalty they’ll end up with is living a pampered life of seclusion instead of death?
